CCleaner is a free, closed-source programme that can be downloaded to various devices and has been developed by the private software company Piriform Ltd, based in London, UK. Its launch date was September 23, 2003. Over the years it has undergone several updates and versions on the three platforms on which it is available: Windows, MacOS and Android.

By downloading CCleaner, the software allows the cleaning up of different files, as well as optimisation of the operating system. In addition, it is capable of uninstalling multiple programmes from the interface and disabling certain applications from being executed at system startup.
The benefits that the device in question derives from downloading CCleaner are improved boot speed, reduced system load and release of wasted disk space. Also, access becomes much faster.
In addition, when running different programs, temporary files and other settings are saved. By downloading CCleaner, all these useless files can be removed, as well as browsing history. As a result, space is freed up on the hard disk, allowing the system to run faster. By focusing only on folders with relatively unimportant files, there is less risk of losing valuable files.
An indication of the need to download CCleaner or another tool of this type is error messages or screen locks. This is due to broken or disused files. This free application includes the Registry Cleaner, which allows these errors to be identified and fixed.
When downloading CCleaner, the user has the option of customising their cleaning options to suit their needs. For those with limited computer knowledge, the application offers some default settings. For the more advanced, the degree of selection can be more comprehensive and even specify the type of cookies.
In addition to the traditional version for downloading CCleaner, Piriform Ltd has developed two other modalities, CCleaner Browser, CCleaner Cloud and other versions such as Professional, Business or Technician.
CCleaner Cloud is an alternative to downloading CCleaner in its traditional version. This is an online platform hosted in the cloud and allows you to clean and optimise your computer from there. The advantages are that it is free, functional and it isn't necessary to be in front of the computer to connect the PC to the Piriform server.
Little more needs to be said apart from the 2 million downloads since its market launch. Although a free application, its features are not necessarily matched by those of paying competitors or those offering premium level options.
To confirm, there will not be a portable version of CCleaner 6.01 either, but we are continuing to review how to portable-ize CCleaner 6.02+. The sticking point is the structural change required for Performance Optimizer although Performance Optimizer would not work properly when the software is being used in a genuinely portable manner. Although the Portable version is expressly intended "for system admins and advanced users ... not for distribution or mirroring", we know that some third party download sites advertise it as suitable for all users, so we have to make things a little more robust for the general public who may be using Portable contrary to advice. As such, for the time being we have rolled back the portable version on the website to 5.91 until we can come up with a satisfactory solution.

Actually, there is a portable ccsetup601.zip file on the Piriform download server (https:// download.ccleaner.com/...) if you know where to look for it, but it is not posted on the builds page because of the problems it will create if you run the executables in their current state. I don't know why Piriform hasn't removed this .zip file from their download server.
I downloaded the ccsetup601.zip file from MajorGeeks and previewed it in 7-Zip, and it has the same buggy folder structure as the ccsetup592.zip file that was recently pulled from the builds page (e.g., where the CCleaner64.exe is located in the \64x subfolder instead of the "root" folder where it should be with portable.dat).
If you execute the CCleaner.exe or CCleaner64.exe executables from their current locations (i.e., without copying and pasting the executables into the "root" folder with portable.dat) you're going to create all sorts of problems. See mogli's bug report at 5.92 portable broken [download 5.91 from website] about issues switching to a non-English interface plus all the unwanted garbage (e.g., a CCleaner Update task in Task Scheduler and dozens of registry entries) that will be added to your system. Andavari noted on 06-Jun-2022 in mogli's thread that "Where you unzipped CCleaner Portable make sure the portable.dat file is in the same folder as CCleaner.exe and CCleaner64.exe, it's required so it knows to not create registry data."
I just received an email from MajorGeeks informing me that they have pulled CCleaner Portable v6.01 from their servers and replaced it with CCleaner Portable v5.91. I checked at _portable.html and confirmed that their download links are currently offering ccsetup591.zip.-----------64-bit Win 10 Pro v21H2 build 19044.1766 * Firefox v101.0.1 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.2203.5-1.1.19200.6 * Malwarebytes Premium v4.5.10.200-1.0.1702 * CCleaner Free Portable v5.91.9537Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620

I download the ccsetup602.zip file and previewed the contents using 7-Zip, and it has the same incorrect folder structure (e.g., the CCleaner.exe and CCleaner64.exe executables are not located in the "root" with portable.dat - see image below), so I would advise against using it. If you unzip ccsetup602.zip and use it in its current condition it will incorrectly create scheduled tasks and dozens of registry entries like the ones shown in my 04-Jun-2022 post in mogli's 5.92 portable broken [download 5.91 from website].
There is a better discussion about this in mogli's April 22 thread 5.92 portable broken [download 5.91 from website] in the CCleaner Bug Reporting board. Moderator Andavari's 06-Jun-2022 posted in that thread that "Where you unzipped CCleaner Portable make sure the portable.dat file is in the same folder as CCleaner.exe and CCleaner64.exe, it's required so it knows to not create registry data..."
If built correctly, a CCleaner Portable app that can be run from a removable USB thumb drive on different computers should not be making changes to the Windows registry when it is launched. Instead, all custom configuration settings should be stored in the ccleaner.ini file that is created the first time you run CCleaner.exe or CCleaner64.exe.
If you use the buggy ccsetup601.zip file that you downloaded from a third-party site that now has the CCleaner.exe and CCleaner64.exe in the wrong locations and you don't fix this yourself then you will add all sorts of garbage in your Windows registry and create scheduled tasks in Task Scheduler that won't run properly the first time you launch CCleaner. That is the danger of downloading CCleaner from third-party sites - you should always use the recommended version posted on the official builds page at __________________________________________ 2ff7e9595c
