Perhaps one of the missing feature during the beta version of the Cortana app for Android was the ability to get missed call notifications and sent SMS texts from your Windows 10 PC to a contact in your Android smartphone.
How to get Missed Call notifications on your Windows 10 PC
After you install the official Cortana app, you'll want to log in with the same Microsoft account you're using on your computer. Then it's just a matter of going into the Cortana app settings and turning on notifications.
When you receive a call or missed call, you should see an alert with the contact name or number. While you can't respond to the call from your computer, you can respond with a text message. This feature is particularly useful if you're in a meeting or if your phone is out of reach.
Another option for getting call notifications on a laptop or desktop is to use a tool called Pushbullet. This service syncs notifications between multiple devices, including phone calls if you use Android.
Using encryption means that even if someone is able to intercept your notifications, they won't be able to read them. The content of the notifications will be hidden to anyone who doesn't have your password.
To use the service to get phone call notifications, start by installing the IFTTT app for Android. Make sure that the Notifications and Android Phone Call services are enabled.
To enable any of these options, open the page and then toggle the Connect option. Once connected, your chosen action will be triggered whenever you get a phone call on your Android device.
Using these three methods, you'll be able to see phone call notifications from your Android device on your Windows PC. However, that's not all you can do. You can also see other Android notifications on your PC as well. For example, incoming emails or software updates.
Alternatively, from your profile, you can set your presence to Do Not Disturb to block chat notifications and let your contacts know you are currently unavailable. Calls will still come through, however, unless you turn off Show call notifications in Settings > Notifications. Learn how to control who you receive calls from.
If you close the Skype app without signing out first, you might still receive notifications. If you want to stop these notifications, you can either disable them from your Settings or sign out before you close the app. Your computer may still play a sound for new messages even though you've turned notifications off in Skype. To stop your computer from playing a sound when you get a new Skype message, select Settings > Notifications, and then turn Notification sounds off or on.
This did not end up working, as the notifications still display on the middle monitor, but my call notifications all of a sudden did start showing up again.I couldn't tell you if this was a coincidence or if moving it helped.
Same here. Observation is that is happens especially when I get a call while I am in a RDP session. When I then minimize the RDP window, no popup is there from which I could identify or take the call. Have to wait until the caller hangs up and I can identify him by checking the missed call. Very annoying.
Using Teams version 1.3.00.33674 (64-bit) and usually working via a Remote Desktop Connection opened via Citrix Workspace version 20.10.0.20 for Client work. I hear the calling sound in Teams and I also get the call on my iPhone with the Teams app installed, but on my windows 10 laptop there is no possibility to accept the call via the pop up or in the Teams application. My workaround in the past was to check who is calling on my iPhone, then searching the last chat in Teams with this contact on my laptop, then on the top right I was able to accept the call using the accept button. This workaround is not working anymore since the voice and video call buttons in the chat on the top right changed from the circular shape to the rectangular shape. My coworkers are reporting the same issue.
When you receive a voice call, you will see and hear a notification on your computer, as well as your Skype for Business-enabled phone if you have one. Where you answer the call will determine your audio device.
If you have a headset plugged into your computer that you use occasionally for voice and video calls, you might miss audible notifications of incoming messages. When you set up a secondary ringer, the notification sound will play on both your headset and your device of choice, most likely your computer speakers.
You have the option of forwarding all calls or individuals calls as you receive them to another number, such as your mobile phone. This is completely optional and is up to your discretion as it could involve your personal device and your personal phone plan.
When you park a call, the call is placed on hold and you are provided a three- or four-digit number that anyone using Skype for Business can use to retrieve the call. It can be a useful option if you want to switch from your headset that is connected to your computer to a Skype-enabled desk phone or if you pick up a call at the front desk and need to move to another workstation to continue the call. A few notes about parking:
When you receive a voice call, you will see and hear a notification on your computer, as well as your Skype-enabled phone if you have one. You can either pick up the phone if you have one or answer using your computer and headset.
TIP: If you are using your computer to answer calls, you should have your headset plugged into your computer in advance of receiving a call. It does not work to plug in your headset when you receive the call.
When someone calls you, an alert appears on your screen. If another KU contact who is video-enabled calls you, you will see a preview of your own video. Your video is only shared if you click on the video icon. To answer with just voice, select the blue phone.
When you receive a call in Skype for Business, you will receive a visual notification in the middle of your the screen and an auditory notification through the device you're using. You can set a secondary ringer and choose to have calls simultaneously ring another number or co-worker so calls don't get missed.
Making calls and answering in the Skype for Business mobile app is a matter of finding the contact and choosing whether to call with video or voice. With the mobile app, you are not able to add new contacts to your list; just call existing contacts.
It is possible to pre-record a greeting to use when you are away for an extended period of time. Note: If you have a voicemail call answering rule (phone tree) enabled, callers who reach your voicemail will not hear either of your voicemail greetings.
Glad you asked! TextNow doesn't keep your messages or call logs on your device. Rather, your messages are attached to your TextNow account stored on our servers, so it's accessible from anywhere with an internet connection.
By unchaining your calls and texting from one specific phone or device, TextNow is able to provide a feature that literally no-one else can. It's all part of how we're trying to make communication available for everyone, regardless of platform. 2ff7e9595c
